Here we list companies that have distinguished themselves by their dishonesty or other reprehensible behavior. If you avoid them, you will be spared the problems I have had. Filed with BBB: Escali PR50s Liberta Pocket Scale doesn't work as advertised. Warranty was not honored. This item doesn't work as advertised. The "tare" feature never worked. The first one I received stopped working (wouldn't calibrate) after about a month. I returned it and was then sent a replacement, but that was a unit that was for 500g, not 50 gram. The final unit I got also stopped calibrating after a short time. The battery was only good for about 2 dozen calibration/weighing cycles. Many emails were not answered. Telephone call were not returned. I finally spoke with the owners sec., who suggested a number of steps after consulting the owner, but I had already done them and asked to speak to the owner. However, she told me he had 'just stepped out'. Finally, I faxed the company and demanded my money returned. No response at all. Purchase date 26 May 2009 Model Nr. PR50s Liberta Pocket Scale First Problem date 4 August 2009 Sec. Problem date 29 September 2009 Requested return of funds 12 October 2009 The chief culprit in this operation is Theo Prins, President / C.E.O. The person who was my correspondent with the warranty service was Andrea Dillman, Office Manager. Her performance in this job, even when she did bother to respond was not very good. |
